To our valued supporters and clients

We have all been challenged by the Covid – 19 pandemic.  As Alberta entered the public health emergency, we realized that we needed to make changes to ensure the safety of our clients and our staff.  However, we also remain committed to providing accessible mental health care to everyone, and we recognize that the need for mental health care will not only continue, but likely increase in the coming weeks.

To balance these two interests, we have decided that effective March 19, 2020, we will be moving most of our counselling services to phone sessions or to our secure online video platform.  Our video platform is easy to use, and clients will be able to see and hear their counsellor just as they would in face-to-face sessions.  Clients can book appointments for online or phone sessions by calling the office at 780-482-6215 and talking to our receptionists.  Our receptionists will walk clients through the process and answer any questions they may have about our new service delivery.

If clients feel they need to continue to see their counsellor in person, they can call or email the office to discuss options.  We may make exceptions for clients who are in a fragile state, are feeling suicidal, or do not have a secure space where they can receive online or telephone counselling.  These clients can call our office at 780-482-6215, and we will do what we can to meet these needs under the present circumstances.

We are also offering free telephone consultations with one of our counsellors on Wednesday afternoons between the hours of 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  We will have a therapist on call to answer questions on mental wellness and give strategies for managing anxiety during this time.

Although we want to ensure that our clients have access to timely mental healthcare, we also feel that restricting face-to-face contact is the responsible decision under the circumstances.  We want to stress that we are doing everything we can to balance our mission of providing compassionate mental health care with our need to keep our staff and clients safe.

Warmly,
Sheila Stauffer
