On 22 September 2016 a busload of ‘West of 60’ers’ traveled to Neerlandia and Fort Assiniboine. Local tour guide George Visser, accompanied by his wife Florence, enlightened the group about Neerlandia’s early settler history and the history and current status of church and school in Neerlandia. After lunch in the new and expanded Coop Store and Home and Farm Centre (opened in March 2015) the tour continued across the Athabasca River ferry and on to Fort Assiniboine, the second oldest fort in Alberta, with a visit to its local museum. Jim Vriend and Bill Vanden Born provided the photographs. Click on this link to see the photos.
