The Single Parent Support Group offers support, guidance, training, healing and encouragement to parents in need. The group meets the first and third Wednesday (6:00-8:15 pm) of every month from September to June. There are no fees to attend our group.
The Single Parent Support Group is in its 20th year. We serve on average 40 families each year (about 40 adults and 70 children). We are supported by donations and volunteers. We have volunteer drivers to give rides to families without transportation.
A typical evening
| 6:00 pm | Children do some coloring or play games while parents visit or shop in our clothing exchange. The clothing exchange consists of gently used items donated by church members and other people. |
| 6:30 pm | Dinner is served. Volunteers from the church prepare, serve and clean up every week. |
| 7:00 pm | Parents listen to a guest speaker or other relevant presentation such as Effective Budgeting, Humour, Exercise, Parenting, and much more.
Babies are cared for by volunteers in the nursery.
Toddlers are taken to the playroom for fun and crafts.
Youth are supervised downstairs where they can play floor hockey, do crafts, or just hang out
